Transmission of a stabilised RF phase reference over a monomode fibre-optic link

A scheme is presented for the stabilisation of an RF phase reference transmitted across a fibre-optic link. Using a mirror, part of the received light is returned along the same fibre to the transmitting end where half the round-trip fibre delay variations are compensated.
