A Comparison of Several Single Variable Parameter Adaptive Controllers

Abstract During the last decade several papers have been published which treat the designs of parameter adaptive controllers for stochastic systems. This paper presents some of these controller designs; namely generalised minimum variance, pole / zero placement, state feedback, PID self-tuning, model reference and adaptive predictive control. They are applied to a non-linear model of a binary distillation column for the purposes of performance evaluation assessment.
