Rover 75 sets new standards in body‐in‐white assembly

Highlights the investment made by Rover for the launch of its new executive car, the Rover 75. Discusses the reasoning behind the building of a completely new factory on the existing Oxford site that has double the output capacity of the one it replaces. It also has a much better quality potential, is very flexible and is designed for minimal environmental impact. Particular attention is given in the article to the new body‐in‐white facility, which sets new standards in robot automation and in the layout. These enable the plant to provide high productivity with a high degree of flexibility while meeting world‐class expectations equal to those of Rover’s owners, BMW.
