Introduction Although some studies claim that computer revolution is improving the quality of learning and teaching, there is still reluctance among some staff to accept Information and Learning Technologies (ILT) (Doughty, 1995; Guile and Hayton, 1999). The reasons for this lack of enthusiasm vary and research results remain inconclusive. According to the Further Education Funding Council (FEFC) (1999), colleges cannot assist learners make successful use of ILT as a new learning and conceptual instrument unless all tutors view the fluent use of ILT as a vital component of their own pedagogy.
