Implementation of Parking System Based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) at the Faculty of Engineering Sebelas Maret University

The use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the world is currently increasing very fast, especially since the device reader/writer RFID with Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Generation 2 (Gen2) type have been existing. One application of this technology is for the use of computerized parking systems. This system is believed to be more efficient and effective than conventional parking systems. There are many disadvantages of conventional parking systems i.e.: long time service duration, high use of parking papers, and inability system to recover data transaction. These problems can be eliminated by RFID parking systems. This research purpose to analyze the feasibility of its application applied thoroughly in Sebelas Maret University (UNS). This background is based on the condition of the parking system at UNS which is still using a conventional system. In this case, parking system RFID technology will be implemented in the Faculty of Engineering UNS.  There are four stages of exploring this case, i.e.: Plan, Do, Check, and Action phase. Based on the analysis and evaluation in 2014 - 2015, implementation of RFID parking system at the faculty of engineering UNS succeeded to decrease parking operator utility equal to 1.16%, 25% paper efficiency usage, and transaction data of parking user can be recorded. Based on this result, it can be concluded that RFID parking system is feasible to implement in UNS.
