Yagi-Uda Receiving Elements in Microwave Power Transmission system Rectennas

AbstractDirectional receiving elements are proposed to reduce rectenna costs in free-space microwave power transmission systems, particularly in applications like solar power satellites where the power beam remains relatively fixed with respect to the rectenna. Yagi-Uda elements are proposed in applications requiring moderate gain enhancement relative to the conventional half-wave dipole backed by a conducting ground plane. Considerable cost savings are projected per rectenna in proposed solar power satellites.
