Atanasoff-Berry computer

He spent the next year working out the details of its central computing apparatus: vacuum tube add-subtract mechanisms, rotating drum memory, and vacuum tube regeneration mechanisms to refresh the memory's capacitor elements. He and Berry completed a successful model of that central apparatus by December 1939, and the computer itself by May 1942.
