Detection of plasmids in strains of Bacteroides ureolyticus isolated from the genital tract

Plasmids were detected in 17 of 24 clinical isolates of Bacteroides ureolyticus. All 17 strains harboured a single large plasmid of ≥24·5 MD but two also had smaller plasmids of 2·3 and 3·9 MD, respectively. The function of the plasmids is unknown.
