Test and evaluation for the minimum gap go through in IEC 62885-7 to improve reproducibility

The definition of cleaning robot is automatic floor cleaner that operates autonomously without human intervention within a defined perimeter following terms and definitions in IEC 62929. The various performance evaluation methods had been proposed, but there was not standardized test method. Finally, IEC 62929 for the performance evaluation methods based on some of the test items in standard of vacuum cleaner was established in July 2014, and it has been able to evaluate the performance of cleaning robot with IEC 62929. However, the technology of cleaning robot has been rapidly developed, and more developed performance evaluation method is being required for the advanced cleaning robots. Proposed test items in IEC 62929 is simply for the both dust pick up and navigation performance. However, working items that would be included in IEC 62885-7 can evaluate cleaning robot with a variety of methods that indicates not only dust pick up and navigation but also obstacle overcome and dust removal along walls and in/at corners. Especially, obstacle overcome test is indispensable item for measuring the mobility performance of obstacles that could easily locate in a typical home environment. However, the test item in the current standard is not good at reproducibility in terms of minimum gap go through in obstacle overcome test. In this paper, we figure out the problem in the current standard and propose the way how to improve the reproducibility and repeatability of test, minimum gap go through.
