A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF THE SHAPE OF CORN LEAVES

A mathematical model has been developed to predict leaf width at any distance from the tip of a corn leaf using maximum length, maximum width and two experimentally derived constants in a modified sine equation. The equation can be used to predict leaf width or leaf area for crop-modelling studies.
