A Meteorological Model for Calculating the Moisture Content of Ripe Spring Barley

Abstract A model for calculating grain moisture content of ripe spring barley has been developed. The model is based on former investigations by Heger (1973) and Kampen (1969). Temperature, relative humidity, amount of precipitation and prevailing weather conditions are used as input to the model. These data are available from ordinary synoptic stations. The model was validated by using 3 years of grain moisture data from H⊘jbakkegard, Denmark. The model described 72% of the variation in measured grain moisture content.
