across student and academic affairs. Myron S. Henry, Joseph Paul, and Thomas J. Schnaubelt describe the evolution of service-learning at the University of Southern Mississippi, which is located in a rural state with a per capita income well below the national average. Public Work and the Academy concludes with a list of resources that readers will find helpful because it is geared specifically to academic leaders. Recognizing the plethora of available resources on service-learning and civic engagement, the editors carefully select and organize them for their target audience. In conclusion, I believe this volume is a valuable addition to the literature. I highly recommend it to academic administrators as well as to others who seek to understand the complex web of issues with which academic leaders must grapple as they work to advance service-learning and civic engagement.
