A method to design a circulator based on the substrate-integrated-waveguide(SIW) is presented in this paper. SIW has many advantages such as low loss, high Q-factor, low cost, relatively high-power capacity. And the SIW is fabricated in plannar form using a standard printed circuit board or other planar processing techniques, so it is easy to integrate with planar circuit. In this paper, the impedance matching network is proposed and optimized in the design of SIW to microstrip transition. And describe a way to reduce the insertion loss in this paper. When the bandwidth is about 2 GHz at ka-band, the VSWR is less than 1.1, and the insertion loss is less than 0.42dB.
