A Photovoltaic Simulator Based on Diode Characteristics

This paper presents a photovoltaic (PV) simulator based on diode characteristics. The PV equivalent circuit which is composed of controllable power supply and series-connected diodes, is used to generate reference current-voltage signal by controlling MOSFETs to operate in linear region. Bypass diodes are included in the equivalent circuit in order to simulate the response in the partial shading condition. The reference signal is sent to the power circuit as buck converter to simulate the PV panel outputs. The design procedure is explained and the simulation results show the validation of the proposed method.
