Environmental Impact Assessment in Sustainable Manufacturing: A Case Study

Abstract Observing the environmental impacts of a product during its whole life cycle, determining its most environmentally influential life cycle stage, assessing these impacts and finding solutions to conduct ecodesign by interpreting the results are the main ideas of sustainable manufacturing methodology. In this study, an environmental performance assessment for the product “hand blender”, a member of the small household appliances electrical and electronic equipment family, will be conducted. In order to define environmentally problematic phases of the product, life cycle thinking approach and Environmental Quality Function Deployment (EQFD) will be used.
