System and method for transmitting preview contents, and apparatus and method for receiving the same

A system and method for transmitting preview contents and a receiving apparatus and method thereof are provided to make a content guide server transmit content guide service information to the receiving apparatus together with the preview contents. A contents server(100) stores a plurality of contents, and information of a content guide service including names of the contents and descriptions. A preview contents server(110) stores the preview contents for the contents in advance. A contents guide server(120) provides the connection information to various servers which provide predetermined services through a network, and receives/stores the preview contents from the preview contents server. The content guide server together provides the preview contents in case of providing the information of the content guide service to the receiving apparatus(160). An SD&S(Service Discovery & Selection) server(130) receives and stores the connection information to various servers, and provides the receiving apparatus with the stored information in response to the request of the receiving apparatus.
