Separating the Sources of the Crab ’ s Enigmatic Radio Emission

We propose to study the Crab pulsar using scintillometry techniques. Expanding the approach of Pen et al. (2014), we plan to map the apparent positional shift of the various pulse components, focussing on the precursor, main pulse and interpulse. From earlier observations, these have been found to have rather different properties and therefore been suggested to originate in different parts of the magnetosphere. If so, we should be able to prove this easily, and provide the first empirical measurements of the locations of the sources of their emission.
