Proposal ofTele-touch UsingActive TypeSAW Tactile Display

We havealready proposed a novelmethodto provide humantactile sensation usingsurface acoustic wave (SAW).Inthispaper,we propose"tele-touch", whichrealize reproduction oftactile sensation asiftorubremotesolid surface. Togenerate tactile display control parameters, object surface is measuredbya fabricated profile scanner. Control parameters aregenerated fromtheresult. Toindicate various texture, we install amplitude modulation forSAW excitation. Demonstration toreproduce thetactile feeling ofsamplesurface withthecontrol parameters andthemodulation drive iscarried out.
