Approximate linearization of a synchronous generator by static output feedback: a data-based direct design approach

Fifth-order models of synchronous machines are not I/O linearizable via static state feedback. Moreover, the measurability of their state is a questionable issue. In this paper it is shown how a 5th-order model of a synchronous machine can be approximately linearized via static output feedback, by resorting to the data-based direct design technique. Such a technique is conceptually simple and relatively cheap from a computational viewpoint.
