THE USE OF DIFFERENT METRICS IN VECTOR MEDIAN FILTERING: APPLICATION TO FINE ARTS AND PAINTINGS

Abstract In this work the use of different metrics in vector median filters is investigated. The impact of the metric is considered from the point of view of both performance and algorithm complexity. In order to achieve more intuitive results a geometrical approach is adopted. Finally a fast approximated algorithm for the L1 case is introduced.
