Abstract Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an emerging technology for providing news to the patron. Providing an RSS feed is relatively simple and consists of client-side and server-side software; in many cases, this only involves minor alterations to existing software. As an alternative, various services provide entirely Web-based RSS services. At a deeper level, RSS markups consist of metadata with the possibility of passive information integration leading to the Semantic Web.
