Brunel inverse DGPS positioning system

: This paper presents an inverse differential GPS (DGPS) system that has been established at Brunel University. This system can be employed for applications requiring the user's location with improved DGPS accuracy, which is achieved by computing the remote receiver's position at the base station rather than at the remote site. In this system, the correction data are not transmitted from the base station, but the positioning data from the remote receiver are sent to the base station, where the DGPS position is calculated. This approach is especially relevant in applications where a remote unit reports its location to the service center: A typical scenario may be emergency location service, when the location of an emergency caller needs to be reported to a dispatch center.
