La traduccion del conocimiento en cancer cervicouterino: una brecha entre la investigacion sobre las causas y la investigacion sobre la atencion al paciente?

En este trabajo construimos un mapa de la traduccion del conocimiento sobre cancer cervicouterino, basado en el analisis de redes de citacion y en el uso de terminos del “Gene Ontology” y del Medical Heading Subject. Identificamos dos campos de investigacion sobre cancer cervicouterino, pobremente conectados entre si, que difieren en estructura, contenido y evolucion. Un area esta centrada en el estudio de las causas de la enfermedad, mientras que la otra se centra en la atencion al paciente. En la primera area encontramos un proceso de traduccion del conocimiento en la que la investigacion clinica y la investigacion basica se comunican a traves de un conjunto de articulos que consolidan la infeccion por el papilomavirus como la causa necesaria del cancer cervicouterino. La primera area esta orientada a prevenir la infeccion por el virus del papiloma humano y el subsecuente desarrollo del cancer cervicouterino, mientras que la otra area se ocupa de la estadificacion y tratamiento de la enfermedad.
