Exploring Requirements of the Electronic Commerce Curricula: A Perspective of Industry, Government, and Academy

Many academic institutions or organizations are paying increased attentions to the determinants of the electronic commerce (EC) curricula to closely meet the requirements of industry and government. Little research addresses the components of the EC curricula with respect to their requirements. This paper presents an empirical investigation to open up the current requirements for EC curricula. The research in this paper contains two parts. The first part sorts out the requirements of the underlying EC courses offered by universities and colleges via the utilization of Borich needs assessment model (BNAM). Based on the collected responses, the second part employs the technique of analysis of variance (ANOVA) to investigate the opinion congruence among academy, industry, and government. Research results are provided and findings and implications discussed in this research.
