Analytical modelling of large wind farm clusters

Approaches to modelling wake development downwind of large offshore wind farms are considered. Preliminary modelling using standard wind farm models gives a wide range of recovery distances for hub-height wind speeds from 2-14 km. Data analysis from a small offshore wind farm suggests predictions of wind recovery distances from standard wind resource models may be an under-estimate.
