(OCT) of the patient, a macular tear was observed and there was cystoid macular oedema at the rim of tear (Figure 1b). Argon laser photocoagulation was applied to the periphery of the tear. The side of the fovea was approached with double layer laser (Figure 1c). Considering the diagnosis of severe pre-eclampsia, treatment with an intravenous infusion of magnesium sulphate was administered. At 37 weeks’ gestation, because of an uncontrollable increase in blood pressure despite intravenous hydralazine therapy; low biophysical profile scores; severe intrauterine growth restriction and persistent variable spontaneous decelerations on cardiotocography, emergency caesarean section was performed under general anaesthesia. A 1,900 g healthy female infant was delivered. In the control visit 1 week later, visual acuity was 20/20 for the left eye. Anterior segment findings were bilaterally normal. In fundus examination, retina was attached on the left eye and the tear was evaluated as stable (Figure 1c).
