An Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) is a community of manufacturing and service business located together on a common property, which seek enhanced environmental, economic, and social performance through in managing environmental and resource issues. It has been developing about 130 EIPs in the world as an alternative to current conventional industrial park since 1990’s. The purpose of this study is to suggest the strategies and planning directions for development of eco-industrial park in Korea. Within this purpose, it firstly extracts 17 planning items and some requirements desired through both the case study of advanced examples in the world and literature review. And then, it is established the driving strategies for eco-industrial park by survey with expert. The major results of this study can be summarized as follows; EIP can be introduced as a key to the solution of industrial park’s environmental issues in partly consideration of its economic revitalization. And main body for the realization of EIP is the local and national government along with cooperative group (experts and related company) and supporting group (local community and NGOs). Third, material and waste information in EIP has to be established in the regional scale by the committee including company and government. Finally, it is desirable to pass through three steps for the development of EIP here; deduction of waste and establishment of environmental infrastructure, and then exchange of material and waste, building of information network as last step.
