A method for detecting a roll state of a vehicle comprises: 1. collecting a sideward acceleration a bh of a vehicle and an acceleration a bv in a direction vertical to the ground; 2. obtaining a roll angle φ of the vehicle and a sideward acceleration a y of the vehicle relative to a geodetic coordinate system; and 3. comparing the obtained roll angle φ of the vehicle with a set roll angle range, and performing judgment, so as to obtain a roll state of the vehicle. A roll angle φ of a vehicle is directly calculated by using a biaxial acceleration sensor (3), so as to obtain roll state information of the vehicle, so that effective roll state information of the vehicle can be obtained more directly and rapidly, and technical support is provided for follow-up roll control and warning, so as to avoid an rollover accident of the vehicle.
