With tradition travels inertia: time to bury the routine urethral smear

health challenge in resource-poor countries3. Current efforts focused on antiretroviral therapy to prevent MTCT should be expanded to include early diagnostic capabilities, as well as simplified effective treatment strategies for HIV-infected women and their children9. Our study clearly shows that improved delivery techniques coupled with nevirapine therapy should help reduce further the MTCT rate of HIV in Cameroon and in developing countries as a whole.
