A Simulation Framework for Rapid Development of Microprocessor Based Measurement Systems

This paper describes a framework which can be used to simplify the development of microprocessor based instruments. The framework is based on digital simulators which describe the behavior of the different blocks and a message interchange protocol which allows the simulators to communicate in order to emulate the complete measuring systems. By means of this protocol multiple simple simulators can cooperatively work in situations where microcontrollers and several digital peripherals are present and are requested to exchange digital data
