The effect of particle size, charge, and composition on the loading characteristics of an electrically active fibrous filter material

Abstract Electrically active fibrous filters are an attractive option because in their clean state these filters have superior efficiencies to conventional fibrous filters of similar structure. Widespread use of such materials has been hindered because unlike conventional materials their efficiency often falls as the filter is loaded with particles. The processes by which this happens are not yet understood. In this work an experimental study of the effect of particle size, charge, and composition on the loading of an electrically active material is reported
