Fusion of AVHRR and vegetation data using a Kalman filter for the retrieval of surface BRDF and albedo

paper describes the possible use of a Kalman filter to retrieve the surface BRDF from satellite measurements. The advantage of this approach, compared to standard regression analysis, is to ensure consistency in delivering temporal series of biophysical variables as well as serving to fill gaps within image products. The framework of application is here the fusion of AVHRR and VEGETATION data, for which we developed a spectral normalization which takes into account the spectral responses of these sensors and which is based on the decomposition of the surface spectral signature into spectral modes.
