OFDM for wireless communications: techniques for capacity improvement

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation is a promising technique for achieving the high-bit-rates required for a wireless multimedia service. We describe three techniques to improve the capacity of OFDM systems, which are robust channel estimation for coherent detection, adaptive antenna arrays for interference suppression, and transmitter diversity for high efficiency transmission.
