Traction converter with medium-frequency transformer for railway applications: Direct current control of primary active rectifiers

This contribution deals with a new configuration of traction converter with medium-frequency transformer for multi-system suburban units and locomotives. This paper introduces control of primary voltage source active rectifiers with direct control of trolley current, presents simulation and experimental results of designed low-voltage laboratory prototype of traction converter of rated power of 12kW.
