A graphical description of the optical parametric generation of squeezing

This paper describes with simple graphical methods the optical transfer function of an optical parametric amplifer in the Time and in the Frequency domain. This totally classical process can be used to understand the conversion of classical shot noise limited light fields to nonclassical squeezed states. Moreover our graphical derivation explains amplifcation and deamplifcation of coherent fields and gives the phase relations between all converted fields as well as internally induced dielectric polarizations.
