Cloud computing is turning out to be one of the major technological developments in today's world because provisioning of resources has become much more accessible and straightforward. Accessing ample of resources in a shared manner requires different machines to work in a cooperative environment therefore the role of virtualization comes in play. It is the most significant concept of cloud and acts as a backbone to it. Due to virtualization one can carve out emulators which can even emulate a whole computer system. The virtual machines which results due to virtualization can even be transferred from a physical host to a different one and is known an as migration. When the migration is accomplished with no downtime and both the instances being continuously powered up then it is called as live migration. Basically two sorts of migration exist one is called live and other non-live or simply, migration. There are some benefits to live migration, which are investigated by the means of studying in the following paper. These benefits truly explains the need of doing live migration.
