This paper describes the development of a system for distributing the location of information found on the Web that is useful to teachers. The system is known as Teacher's Desktop (hereafter TD). Development first involved exploration for Web information that is useful to teachers. This information was identified and compiled in a list. The TD system identifies the locations of items of Web information on the list that have been updated and distributes them to teachers using RSS technology. Operational trials demonstrated the operability of the system, and the usefulness of the Web information was recognized. On the other hand, this also revealed issues concerning the improvement of educational information on the Web in order to make the content easier to distribute, including making Web information that is useful to teachers compatible with RSS.
