Effect of adjuvant (Freund's type) and its components on the organs of various animal species; a comparative study.

IN a previous publication dealing with the production of allergic encephalitis in the Syrian hamster, it was noted that in the control group of animals injected with Freund's adjuvant alone a granulomatous proliferation of the reticuloendothelial cells occurred in the brain (Tal, Laufer and Behar, 1958). This finding induced us to investigate the reaction of the brain to the same agent and its components in other animal species. Likewise, the reaction of organs other than the brain to the injection of complete adjuvant or of its components was studied.
