Will the Scientific and Technology Workforce Meet the Requirements of the Federal Government? William P. Butz, Terrence K. Kelly, et. al. Santa Monica, CA.: RAND Corporation, 2004. xxx, 94 p. ISBN 0-8330-3529-0

book begins the process of providing some practical applications. The authors address some of the common causes of library anxiety and begin the dialogue of what to do to reduce these anxieties for our patrons. While the book is a good start, it will not provide all the answers. Instead, the volume ends by looking toward the future and in particular addressing areas of further research. In addition, there is a discussion of some of the issues and challenges related to conducting this type of research. The authors do a commendable job pulling together the available research on this important library subject. For those new to the library field or needing to develop programs that directly address library anxiety issues, this volume would be a good starting point.
