Biotechnical Industry Workers

Biotechnology is defined as utilization of microbial, plant or animal cells or parts of them in process technology. Essentially, the biotechnological processes are applied fermentation processes. Traditional biotechnology consists of methods to make products, such as beer, cheese and sour milk, by non-aseptic fermentation [1, 2]. The commonly applied biotechnological processes are also waste-water treatment and biogas production, which utilize the natural microbial content of the raw material, as well as traditional wine production with indigenous flora of the grapes. These traditional processes have been improved by exploiting progress in science and engineering, especially in advanced fermentation design and process control. The essential parts of the modern biotechnology are recombinant DNA techniques, hybridoma technology, enzyme engineering, and protein engineering. The modern biotechnology is applied in many areas and the applications are increasing [3].
