Analysis of an Intensive Magnetic Field on Blood Flow

The effect of an intensive magnetic field on the dynamics of blood flow is still unknown at the present time. This paper deals with a mathematical model of the blood flow in a large blood vessel such as the ascending aorta, in the presence of a strong magnetic field. the aortic blood flow induced by a time-varying pressure gradient is analyzed in terms of a Navier-Stokes equation solved by a finite Hankel transform. the relationship between the velocity profile in the aorta and the magnetic field is derived. It is shown that a magnetic field of 49.8 k Gauss may retard the blood velocity by ten percent.
