A comparison of the performance of industrial solids mixers using segregating materials

Abstract The article deals with tests carried out on a V-mixer, Rotocube, Nautamix and Ribbon Blender using a 4:1 millet/salt mixture. The performance of the mixers was defined in terms of a “discharge profile” and the proportion by weight of the total charge conforming to arbitrarily chosen tolerances. The performance of the “convective mixers” i.e. the Nautamix and the Ribbon Blender, was found to be superior to that of the “tumbler mixers” using this particular mixture.
