Uerification of Signatures of Bank Checks at Uery low Resolutions and Noisy Images

Building a successful offline Automatic Signature Serification (ASV) system to work efficiently in actual banking environment, is a quite nontrivial task, especially if a preestablished inconvenient environment (low variant resolution, noisy images, and only one reference signature is available) is imposed to work with. In this paper, we of explain the methodology of a well developed ASV system that can work efficiently in such environment and demonstrate its ability using actual bank data. The demonstrated ASV system can extract clean signature images from noisy low resolution banck checks in both single signatory and multisignatory cases and verify them. It may work well with resolutions as low as 120 dpi. The mentioned system is patented in the USA, and has been adopted by some of the biggest banks in New York.
