GAUGE CONTROL IN TANDEM COLD ROLLING MILLS: A MULTIVARIABLE CASE STUDY USING 7f" OPTIMIZATION

1. Abstract This paper considers the application of robust multivariable control, based on ‘H” optimization, to the problem of gauge control in a tandem cold rolling mill. The work has been undertaken as part of a collaborative research project between CEGELEC Projects Ltd., Rugby, and the University of Leicester. The results of this paper have also been presented at the IEE Control ’94 Conference, warwick, 1994.
