A New Method for Height Measurement Using Single Image

recently, the video surveillance system is widely used for preventing, or subsequently, identifying the perpetrator in elevator, traffic intersection, bank and other public area, however, if the robber is disguised, the surveillance system is of little help in identification. So, photogrammetry is introduced in forensic science to help distinguishing perpetrators from crime scene covered with surveillance video. In this paper, a body height measurement method using single image is discussed. In order to compute the body height, the measurement method is assumption that the camera is pinhole and the equation of the floor plane on space coordinate system is zw =0. The method performs two steps, the first step is camera calibration, which using the known two dimensional screen coordinates and three dimensional spatial coordinates of points in an image to determine the unique perspective matrix. In the second step, the 3D coordinates of perpetrator can be calculated using image coordinate and perspective matrix.
