Key Points from Part I: Interactive Media and the Writer

Interactive multimedia is a computer-delivered, communication medium that uses any combination of sound, pictures, video, animation, and text to communicate to the user interactively. Multimedia is presented on the World Wide Web; local networks, such as corporate intranets; computer hard drives, such as museum kiosks; interactive television, such as MSN TV; dedicated gaming systems, such as PlayStation and Xbox; mobile devices, such as PSPs (Play Station Portables) and iPods; and discs, such as CD-ROMs and DVDs. Interactive multimedia has dozens of uses, with the most common being marketing, sales, product information, entertainment, education, training, and reference material.
