Editor's note

After the success of our first forum issue (Vol. 7, No. 4), we decided to offer the pages of Machine Translation to more articles reflecting opinions of the workers in our field about various scientific and technological issues machine translation faces. When we publish such articles, we invite our readers to respond to these opinions. High-quality scientific polemic can be a catalyst for the development of ideas and trends. Without further ado, we present the first contribution in our occasional "Point of View" rubric.
