Comparison of torque ripple reduction for switched reluctance motor based on DTC and DITC

The torque ripple is the main disadvantage of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM). The purpose of this paper is to compare two different control techniques to find which method can provide better effect in reducing the torque ripple. Firstly the factors which affect torque ripple are introduced. Then the Direct Torque Control(DTC) and Direct Instantaneous Torque Control(DITC) for SRM are designed to compare the different effect for torque ripple reduction. The control theory are analyzed respectively and the reason which lead to torque ripple are explained in detail with the help of respective simulation results. In order to prove the validity of theory and simulation analysis, the hardware platform were put up to get the experimental results. At last, some important conclusions were drawn and this will provide good suggestions for the application of SRM in engineering.
