Design of sensors for a Smart Power Substation

The diffusion of smart grids requires new components to be utilized in a so-called “smart-power substation” MV/LV, in particular electromagnetic components can be set up, together with power electronic devices, sensors, based on properly adapted hardware and software for the data acquisition platforms and local and remote control. Among these components are the voltage and current sensors with high linearity, voltage and current transducers for correct energy measurement, power electronics apparatuses for filtering and ancillary services. In this paper a sensor coil is considered, it is proposed a design method of a Rogowski coil with an high bandwidth for the use in a Smart Power Substation for a hybrid AC-DC micro-grid, the coil is then designed and sized performing the procedure by means of FEM analysis.
