Constraint logic programming: Applications and implications

Abstract The main features of constraint logic programming (CLP) are presented. Examples of using CLP( R ) are given to demonstrate the power and limitation of the current implementation. Two application examples from model-based diagnosis and planning are discussed. Some implications of development in CLP on areas of research in artificial intelligence are outlined.
